A classic bamboo box-style Cha Pan. What does that mean? First of all it's a chá pán 茶盤 meaning "tea plate." This is because it used to be a ceramic plate, with holes in it, placed on top of a ceramic bowl. It is used as a platform on which to serve tea that drains liquid away from the surface. This rectangular bamboo cha pan has a slatted lid with semicircular finger holes and retains water in a box - hance the term "box-style." This cha pan can hold a gaiwan, gong dao bei, 6-8 cups, and a tea pet. A portable, practical, durable cha pan for small to medium size tea service.
