Mutton Fat Jade Porcelain Taijian Teapot (羊脂玉瓷太監茶壺, Yáng Zhī Yù Cí Tài Jiàn Chá Hú, "Mutton Fat Jade Porcelain Court Eunuch Teapot") - By popular request we've expanded our selection of Mutton Fat Jade Teapot styles. Renowned for its flawless beauty, matte luminosity, and excellent steeping characteristics, Mutton Fat Jade refers to a high grade porcelain from Dehua that is fired without glaze. High-fired and fully vitrified, these pots can be used with any kind of tea without taking on the flavor.
This 80 ml pot is the smallest of our new Mutton Fat Jade Porcelain pots. It is formed in a classic shape known as Tai Jian, which means "Court Eunuch." Why is it called that? Honestly we have no idea. It's essentially a classical teapot-shaped-teapot, with a slightly compressed round shape, very similar to a Shui Ping pot except that the spout points down. This gives it a somewhat more elegant and less aggressive pour than a Shui Ping.
These tiny pots are perfect for a solo session, or for sharing very fine teas that you're trying to drink slowly. The pure, white Mutton Fat Jade Porcelain make this an excellent every day pot, enhancing the tea service with its beauty and the character of the unglazed clay body.
