Dragon Egg Yixing Crimson Clay Teapot (龍蛋宜興朱泥茶壺, Lóng Dàn Yíxìng Zhūní Cháhú, "Dragon Egg Yixing Crimson Clay Teapot") - The Dragon Egg style of teapot gets its name from its iconic egg shape. One of the earliest descriptions of the Dragon Egg Teapot shape comes from a poem written by Wu Dingmei in the Qing Dynasty, where he describes it as "round like a pellet, [with a] body that is slightly vertical." In Chinese Culture, the dragon is a supremely auspicious symbol, signifying well-wishes and abundance.

Made from Yixing Zhu Ni "Crimson Clay" and hand-thrown by Chaozhou potter Chen Zhu, this ~90 ml pot is perfect for a solo session or for serving rare and valuable teas. The Dragon Egg is one of the most classical and celebrated teapot shapes and is suitable for any kind of tea.

This pot is identical to our previous crimson clay dragon egg pot except that it is slightly larger and frmo a different, coarser batch of clay. Due to the porosity of the clay, this pot should be dedicated to a single type or category of tea. The clay will absorb the flavor and character of the tea and amplify those aspects, improving the tea after many uses.
