Infrared Gu Shu Hong (古樹紅茶, Gǔ Shù Hóng Chá, "Ancient Tree Red Tea") - Gu Shu Hong simply means Ancient Tree Red. Nannuo Mountain is famous for having an abundance of ancient trees, some of which are estimated to be as old as 800 years. This tea is made from ancient trees on Nannuo Mountain that have been processed into a distinctive shài gān hóng chá 曬乾紅茶 ("sun-dried red tea"). This technique involves gently massaging the leaves (揉捻, róu niǎn) and allowing them to wither and oxidize, alternating between sun and shade, to achieve complete oxidation before the leaves dry out completely. It's a delicate process that requires constant attention, but the resulting fragrant red leaves convey the unalloyed character of the tea, because there was no cooking involved. When applied to the prized ancient tea tree leaves, this process captures, in a very naturalistic way, the full expression of the plant.

I love sun dried black teas but this one didn’t stand out to me much. I was expecting more nuance and depth but it kinda fell flat. I really enjoy the Nannuo Sun Dried Red tea!
