2022 Drunken Mulberry Garden Shou Mei Brick (醉桑園寿眉白茶砖, Zuì Sāng Yuán Shòu Méi Bái Chá Zhuān, "Drunken Mulberry Garden Shou Mei Brick") - This beautiful old tree white tea brick gets its fanciful name from the patch in the mountains of Fuding, Fujian in which it is grown. Drunken Mulberry Garden is a Shòu Méi (寿眉, "Longevity Eyebrow"), the leaf-forward third grade of Fuding white tea harvested from old trees. At 500 grams, this is the largest denomination of white tea we've ever carried. At three years old, this tea has a creamy mouthfeel with butter and hazelnut notes. Its qi is pervasive and somatic, filling every corner of the body with an ebullient sensation. Due to its relative youth, it has a greater capacity for bitterness than more mature white teas. We find that starting it off at full temperature to open it up, then dropping the heat to 190-205F for the middle steepings (roughly steepings 2-5) before raising the temperature again in the later steepings keeps this tea from becoming too strong and delivers a rich, toothsome brew that can last for upwards of 15 infusions.
