2017 Little Bamboo Forest Rou Gui (小竹林肉桂, Xiǎo Zhú Lín Ròu Guì, "Little Bamboo Forest Cassia") - This aged Wuyi Mountain oolong has been expertly stored and re-roasted by its producer Xu Zheng Cong. Unlike pu'er, white tea, and heicha, oolongs can't be passively aged without going stale. They need to be periodically refreshed by roasting with charcoal. This process not only keeps the tea from spoiling, it deepens the flavor. Made from the Ròu Guì (肉桂) cultivar oolong grown in the Little Bamboo Forest (小竹林) patch of the Wuyi Mountains, this mature tea has fudgy caramel notes with a fragrance of baking spice and rich, mineral mouthfeel.
