Golden Mean Yellow Tea (中庸黄茶, Zhōngyōng Huáng Chá, "Golden Mean Yellow Tea") - is our name for this unique iteration of Mengding Huang Ya (蒙顶黄芽, Méng Dǐng Huáng Yá, "Meng Mountain Peak Yellow Tea“). Meng Mountain in Sichuan province is the origin point of tea cultivation in China: according to legend, a Daoist master named Wu Lizhen 吴理真 planted 7 tea bushes there during the Han dynasty, more than 2,000 years ago. This represents the first example of tea being intentionally planted, whereas previously only wild tea was used. The name "Golden Mean" refers to one of the central doctrines of Confucianism, which stresses moderation, sincerity, and honesty as the ways to live a good and ethical life.

The tea itself has a distinctive canned peach scent on both the wet and dry leaf and in the empty cup, while the tea soup itself has is lightly scented like with notes of line-dried linen and distant florals with a crisp, bright mouthfeel and subtle umami flavor.
