Toadstool Lid Rest

This adorable tea pet is a cute mushroom made of hóng ní 紅泥 ("red clay"). It is weighted to stand on its stem like a growing mushroom in the ground, or it can sit upside down like a mushroom on a cutting board. When upside down, it can be used as a lid rest for teapot or gaiwan lids. Like all the best tea pets, these mushrooms are satisfying three dimensional objects. The detailed gills on the underside of the cap are especially pleasant.
